What If Sobriety Felt Like Freedom?

Imagine waking up every day feeling proud, energized, and completely aligned with your values. Picture social events where you’re fully present—free from regret or second-guessing your choices. Envision replacing stress, anxiety, and shame with clarity, joy, and confidence.

This is what sobriety has given me—and it’s what I want to help you discover too.

Welcome to "It Starts With Sobriety"

If you’ve found yourself here, you might be questioning your relationship with alcohol—or perhaps you’re ready to embrace a life that doesn’t revolve around it. Either way, you’re in the right place.

My name is Ellen, founder of Sobriety Sisterhood and creator of the It Starts With Sobriety program. Designed specifically for women like you, this program helps you find freedom from alcohol without the fear of missing out on fun, connection, or joy.

Sobriety isn’t about deprivation—it’s about creating a life so vibrant and fulfilling that alcohol simply doesn’t fit anymore.

"The opposite of addiction is not sobriety, it is connection. In building meaningful bonds with others, we heal the wounds that drove us to isolation."

Comprehensive Online Course

The foundation of It Starts With Sobriety, this self-paced course blends neuroscience insights, practical tools, and mindset shifts to help you create lasting change.

  • Understand the Science of Sobriety: Learn how alcohol impacts your brain and nervous system, and why breaking the cycle can be challenging—but entirely achievable.

  • Explore Your Beliefs and Habits: Uncover the “why” behind your drinking patterns, challenge limiting beliefs, and reframe your mindset for success.

  • Develop Practical Tools: Access worksheets, guided exercises, and actionable strategies to navigate cravings, triggers, and social situations with confidence.

  • Flexible and Self-Paced: Work through lessons at your own pace and revisit key concepts whenever you need.

This course provides a step-by-step framework for understanding why sobriety works and how to make it sustainable in your everyday life.

Twice-Weekly Online Group Coaching Sessions

Our group coaching sessions are designed to provide regular check-ins, accountability, and the tools you need to navigate your sobriety journey with confidence. Held twice a week via Zoom, these interactive sessions create a safe, supportive space where you can connect, learn, and grow.

"When women come together with a collective intention, magic happens. We lift each other up, knowing that we are stronger together."

Is It Starts With Sobriety Right for You?

This program is for women who are ready to redefine their relationship with alcohol and live a life of clarity, joy, and freedom. You’ll benefit from the program if:

  • You’re questioning your drinking habits but aren’t sure if sobriety is “for you.”

  • You’ve tried moderating but find yourself stuck in a frustrating cycle.

  • You’re afraid that giving up alcohol means giving up fun, connection, or spontaneity.

  • You want to strengthen your resolve, build confidence, and gain the tools you need for long-term success.

  • You crave a supportive community but don’t feel comfortable attending an AA meeting.

A Personal Note

I’ve been alcohol-free since 2018, but my journey wasn’t linear. I wrestled with moderation, questioned my beliefs, and convinced myself sobriety wasn’t for “someone like me.” Over time, I discovered that sobriety isn’t about fitting into a label or meeting societal definitions—it’s about creating a life that aligns with your values and brings you joy.

As a trauma-informed coach, I combine personal experience with professional training to guide you with compassion, objectivity, and accountability. I’ll be there to help you navigate challenges, celebrate wins, and build the alcohol-free life you deserve.

Key Guiding Principles of the Sisterhood: Fostering Growth, Respect & Connection

At the heart of the Sisterhood Sobriety Group Coaching Program are guiding principles that create a supportive, respectful, and effective environment. These principles ensure that every session is meaningful and transformative, helping each woman feel valued, heard, and understood.

Curiosity, Compassion, Connection, & Collaboration

These core values guide our interactions within the group, helping us explore our journeys with open minds, kindness, and mutual respect. We build deep connections based on shared experiences and a commitment to growth.

Privacy and Safety

We commit to protecting each other’s privacy, creating a safe and confidential space where every woman can speak her truth without fear of judgement.

Suspension of Judgement

When judgements arise, we explore them with curiosity rather than criticism. This helps us grow in our understanding of ourselves and others, deepening compassion and acceptance.

Presence and Participation

Each session is an opportunity to remain fully present, allowing us to hold space for others and take space for ourselves. Participation is about showing up authentically and engaging with the process.

Permission to Show Up Imperfectly

Perfectionism is not required here. We embrace the idea that you can show up as you are, whether you're feeling strong or vulnerable. Every day is different, and this group allows for that flexibility without pressure.

Kindness and Non-Judgment

Leading with kindness, we approach each other with understanding and respect, recognizing the courage it takes to be part of this journey. We are here to support, not to judge.

Finding Connection Through Similarities

We aim to strengthen our bonds by focusing on the common ground we share, rather than the differences. This fosters a sense of unity and support that is crucial to recovery.

Respecting Personal Journeys

Everyone’s path to sobriety is deeply personal. We honour each individual’s experiences and choices, offering support no matter where someone is on their journey or the unique steps they take.

Complementing Your Journey

This program is not meant to replace traditional 12-step programs, but rather to complement them, offering additional support and guidance for those who choose to incorporate a range of tools in their recovery journey. For some, 12-step programs provide a strong foundation, while others may seek alternatives that align more closely with their personal beliefs and needs. Recovery is deeply individual—there is no one-size-fits-all solution. It can be a patchwork of different strategies, from coaching and therapy to mindfulness and group support, tailored to your unique experience. My role and that of this group program is to help you find the path that resonates with you, offering a compassionate, non-judgmental space to explore what works best for your long-term wellbeing, and to help you find freedom from alcohol, and to thrive in sobriety.
